Ryan,

Like Michele and Gary, I appreciate your honesty, your humility, your ability to understand that it's an individual life journey we are each on, and your encouraging tone. You clearly feel compassion for all living beings, and you don't pretend to know it all.

I think we can all learn something from both the substance of your thoughts as well as the style in which you speak. That said, I appreciate everyone who has chosen to reform world consciousness on this subject, whether their approach is more "in your face" or more gentle, like yours. Different people respond differently to the message and the way it is offered up.

All of us want to be seen as good and valuable, and I believe all of us want to find in everyone else what is good and worthy. In other words, we all want to be affirmed and to affirm others -- including all our precious animal kin! And that, Gary, is why this lifestyle of not harming others is, as you put it, so "life-affirming."

Excellent response - full of respect and courtesy as well as information and support. Going vegan is a joyful, positive, life-affirming change.

Thank you, Ryan for your compassion and understanding in your response to the reader from Saudi Arabia.

The way you educate and respond to people who are on their way to making a change can either make or break the lifestyle change. Taking meat and dairy out of my diet happened immediately after watching "Earthlings". It can happen immediately for some, and take longer for others, but you really seem to "get it".

I appreciate your level of kindness and understanding in putting the information out there. It makes all of the difference when you open your mind to people who are struggling to make a change. Your optimism and compassion are inspiring, and I will share your posts with my friends who are evolving from vegetarians to vegans.

I especially love the last sentence! "You can do it. Rah rah" The positive reinforcement is so refreshing.
